Hello! My name is Olivia Hsu, and I teach 10th grade English Language Arts. I'm what you'd call a "Comeback Kid". After moving here from New York in 2010, I grew up in Deer Valley Unified School District and now have the privilege of giving back to the community that shaped me. After a few twists and turns and some unexpected jobs along the way, I discovered my love for teaching while subbing. It turns out, Mountain Ridge felt like the perfect fit from the start. My educational background is in Interdisciplinary Arts and Performance from Arizona State University (West Campus), and I'm currently continuing my studies to deepen both my teaching practice and my understanding of student learning. I firmly believe in hard-work and a growth mindset, which means that mistakes, efforts, and changes are all part of what makes us capable of more. I strive to create a space where students feel seen, supported, and challenged to grow into the best versions of themselves. When I'm not in the classroom, you can probably find me writing music, sipping coffee, or hanging out with my labradoodle, Rex.
